Pay for people who build — never per seat

Every feature is in every plan. Paid plans are priced per active contributor — a person who actually triggered a pipeline run in the last 30 days. Inviting members is always free.

How billing counts

Active contributors, explained

An active contributor is a distinct person who triggered at least one pipeline run in the rolling last 30 days. That's the whole definition — no seats, no licenses.

group

Contributors, not seats

You are billed for the people who actually trigger pipeline runs — never for viewers, managers or finance folks reading the dashboard. Dashboard-only members are never counted.

smart_toy

Bots don't count

Dependabot, Renovate, service accounts and other automation are excluded automatically. You can also exclude any actor yourself — say, an external drive-by contributor — right from the settings page.

person_add

Members are free

Invite your whole company. Membership never affects the bill — only pipeline-triggering people do. Paid plans bill a minimum of one contributor.

Every limit is a visibility window, never a delete: your pipeline data is never deleted and organization-level sync never stops, whatever the plan.

Does it pay for itself?

Your monthly bleed vs. the TrimCI bill

Same conservative model as our loss calculator — engineer time burned on failed builds plus a small rework tax, anchored to CircleCI's public benchmarks.

$ / h
%

Method: failures = runs × 250 working days × (1 − success rate); debug time = 40 minutes per failure; rework tax = 15% of labor cost; monthly bleed = annual total ÷ 12. Deliberately conservative — production downtime, delayed releases and burned CI minutes are not included.

FAQ

Pricing questions, answered

What exactly counts as an active contributor?

A distinct person (per provider login) who triggered at least one pipeline run in the rolling last 30 days. Bots and system triggers are excluded automatically, and managers can exclude any actor — for example an external open-source contributor — from the settings page. Dashboard-only members are never counted.

The same person pushes to both GitHub and GitLab — do they count twice?

Counting is per provider login, so the same human with two logins would count twice by default. If that happens to you, exclude one of the identities in settings — excluded actors are never billed. We'd rather give you the knob than silently guess who is who.

What happens when my trial ends?

Your organization simply continues on the Free plan. Nothing is deleted, sync never stops — the dashboard window and quotas narrow to Free limits, and everything widens back the moment you upgrade.

What does the history window actually limit?

Only how far back the dashboard and reports can look: 7, 30 or 60 days depending on the plan. Your data is never deleted — history keeps deepening from your first sync onward, so upgrading instantly unlocks the longer window over data you already have.

Are AI recommendations an extra charge?

No — they are included in every plan with a monthly generation quota (5 on Free, 50 on Team, 150 on Business). The feature is in beta and stays labelled Beta, on paid plans too. It runs on our self-hosted model: your logs never leave TrimCI's servers.

Do team members cost anything?

Never. Invite unlimited members on every plan — you pay only for active contributors who trigger pipelines. Paid plans bill a minimum of one contributor.

When does billing actually start?

TrimCI is in beta and paid checkout is not live yet — today every organization runs on the trial and then the Free plan, at no cost. Paid subscriptions launch with at least 30 days' advance notice, as our Terms of Service promise. The prices on this page are the launch prices.

Is self-hosted GitLab a paid feature?

No. Self-hosted GitLab CE/EE is supported for every organization on every plan — it is never a pricing tier.
