Team & organizations
Invite teammates, assign roles, switch between organizations, and understand what owners, admins, and members can do.
Every TrimCI workspace is an organization: one shared pool of connected providers, dashboards, reports, and billing, with a member list attached. This chapter covers the Settings page's people management — inviting teammates by email, the three roles and what each may do, removing and leaving, transferring ownership, and switching between organizations if you belong to more than one.
Simplified illustration — the real screens hold more detail, but the labels and steps match the app.
Step by step
-
Open Settings
Open Settings from the sidebar. The organization section shows the Members card to every member; the "Organization details" card (rename plus the cost and SLO inputs used by dashboards and reports) and the "Invite a new member" card appear only for owners and admins.
-
Invite a teammate by email
Fill in the email address, choose a role — Member or Admin; ownership is never assigned by invitation — and press "Send invitation". TrimCI emails a tokenized link. An organization can send up to 10 invitations per hour, and an address with a pending invitation (or an existing member) cannot be invited again.
-
Track or revoke pending invitations
Unaccepted invitations are listed under "Pending invitations" with their role and send date. Each link is valid for 7 days. Revoking one deletes it immediately and frees the address so you can re-invite — for example with a different role.
-
The invitee joins via the link
The recipient must be signed in with the exact email address the invitation was sent to — new users register with that address first. The link opens a confirmation page; accepting adds them to the organization with the invited role and takes them to the dashboard — teammates who already belong to another organization switch to the new one with the sidebar selector.
-
Remove members
Owners and admins can remove people from the Members card. Three guardrails: the owner can never be removed, you cannot remove yourself, and admins cannot remove other admins — only the owner can. Removal takes away access; it does not delete the person's TrimCI account.
-
Transfer ownership
The owner sees a "Transfer ownership" action on each admin's row. Ownership can only pass to someone who already holds the Admin role; after the transfer the new owner takes over and the previous owner stays on as an admin. The subscription belongs to the organization, so billing continues unchanged.
-
Leave, or switch organizations
Admins and members can leave via the "Leave organization" action on their own row in the Members card. If you belong to several organizations, the sidebar shows a "Current organization" selector — switching re-points the dashboard, reports, and settings at the chosen organization.
Roles at a glance
Owner — exactly one per organization. Everything an admin can do, plus removing admins and transferring ownership. Admin — manages connectors and repository selection, the plan and billing section, organization details, invitations, and member removal, and can generate AI recommendations. Member — works with the shared data: dashboards, reports (anyone can generate one; deleting or retrying is limited to its author or a manager), and browsing recommendations.
Inviting members is always free. Paid plans count active contributors — people who actually trigger pipelines — so teammates who only view dashboards and reports never raise the bill.
When a member opens a manager-only page — connectors, billing, recommendation generation — TrimCI redirects them back to the dashboard with a notice explaining the section is limited to owners and admins. Nothing errors, and no data is exposed.
As the owner, you cannot leave your own organization — that would leave it without an anchor. Transfer ownership to an admin first, then leave. The same order applies before deleting your account while other members remain.
